HOW TO LOCK YOUR FACEBOOK PROFILE?

LOCK PROFILE ON ANDROID DEVICE
In order to lock your profile from your Android device, follow the steps given below:
- Login to Facebook from mobile app and go to your profile.
- Tap on the three dots icon to access the menu.
- Scroll the menu down to the ‘Settings and Privacy’ option.
- Go to the settings and privacy menu, go down to the privacy option.
- Here you must see the ‘profile locking’ option. Tap on it
- This will lead you to the next page which says “Lock your Profile”. It says that only friends can see your posts, photos and stories. And only friends can see your full-size profile picture and cover photos.
- Now, tap on the “Lock your Profile” button to confirm the action. Then you will see a pop-up message which says “You Locked Your Profile”
One important point we must discuss here is that this direct “Lock Profile” is not available in many countries yet, so if you don’t see this feature in your mobile app, then you can always lock your profile manually. For this purpose, first of all open you Facebook app on your Android device, go to your profile and then click on the menu icon. Once you are there, scroll down to reach “Settings and Privacy” option, click it. this will open up a new window where there are different settings options e.g., you can mange who can send you friend request, who can view your profile, who can see your posts etc. you can click on each setting one by one and set up your privacy to make sure that your account is completely private. You also have an option to stop your profile appearing in search engines.
Next thing you need to do is to select your data settings on Facebook. This may not seem like a privacy issue but in the drop-down list, there will be such apps or websites that may have access to your Facebook information and maybe sharing that data within their apps or websites. So, it is recommended to remove all these apps and websites that you don’t need anymore.

LOCK PROFILE FROM DESKTOP
If you wish to lock your profile through desktop, then you must know that there is no way to directly Lock your Profile. To lock your profile using desktop all you have to do is:
- Login to your Facebook account through website
- Go to your profile, then click on ‘Settings and Privacy’
- Tap on the Settings, and from here go to Privacy settings.
- Here you will see different options like who can see your profile, who can see your stories, photos and posts etc. Click on all of them one by one and limit the audience of your profile and posts to “Friends” instead of “Public”
- Once you have edited all the settings, click on the “Save” button.
- In this way you have locked your profile from Desktop.
LOCK FACEBOOK PROFILE FROM iPHONE
If you have an iPhone, you have to follow these steps:
- Open Safari browser from your iPhone.
- Open Facebook Web, and log in to your Facebook account
- Once you have logged in, click on the Menu icon, navigate to your profile, and tap on the Edit Profile button
- Now, if this feature is available in your country, you will see the “Lock Profile” option.
- Just tap on this option, and then on the next screen click OK to confirm your action.
