If you’re wondering if Zelle works on the weekends, the answer is yes. The Zelle team has no control over whether you send and receive money on weekends. It is entirely dependent on your bank or financial organization. Most don’t function on non-business days, which might explain why your transfer failed.
Zelle is my preferred payment platform out of all the options available. I recently attempted to transfer a crucial Zelle payment to a buddy but was unsuccessful. This was because my bank was closed because it was not a work day.
I went through why this happens and some extra information on Zelle transfers that you might find helpful.
Is Zelle Available on Weekends?
Zelle does work on weekends, yes. They are, however, an Early Warning Services-owned digital payments service that supervises transactions between bank accounts.
They essentially serve as a middleman because no cash is immediately withdrawn from them – if you make a Zelle payment on a non-business day, it will most likely not go through because banks are closed on non-business days.

How Long does it Take for Zelle Payments to be Processed?
Zelle generally transfers money right away. Sometimes, the procedure takes a little longer.
This depends on whether you supplied the correct recipient’s email address, US cell phone number, or other pertinent information.
If you enter incorrect information, Zelle will cancel your money transfer and ask you to double-check the information you entered.
Your payment will be delayed when you send money to someone not wholly registered in Zelle. However, the other user will have a 14-day opportunity to join up for Zelle pay and accept the payment request.
Why is My Zelle Payment Not being Processed?
Before I begin, remember that you cannot send money if you enter the incorrect mobile phone number, recipient’s email address, or other related information.
After that, here are some more reasons why you can’t handle payments:
1. International Business Transaction
Transfers to users outside the United States are not permitted. You must have a US cellphone number to sign up and establish an account.
2. Issues with Mobile Apps
This might be because of bugs in the Zelle mobile app. You should be able to repair these by restarting your phone.
If the standard reboot didn’t work and you’re stuck with a bug, you can attempt force-restarting. On Android, press and hold the Power button for several seconds. However, with iPhones, things become a little more tricky.
To restart the iPhone 8 and subsequent models, as well as the SE 2 and 3, follow these steps:
- Press and release the Volume Up button, then repeat with the Volume Down button
- Hold down the Side button until you see the Apple logo appear
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus:
- Hold the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo
iPhone 6, 6S, and SE (1st generation):
- Hold down the Power and Home buttons until you see the starting screen
It’s also possible that you’re dealing with a bug. You can try upgrading Zelle or your operating system to resolve this. On iPhones, do the following to upgrade your operating system:
- Launch the Settings app
- Navigate to General
- Select the Software Update option
- Select the Install Now option
On Android devices:
- Launch the Settings app
- At the bottom of the page, select System
- Choose the System Update option
- Finish by following the on-screen directions to download the most recent firmware
To update the Zelle Pay app, navigate to your respective app store and search for the app. If there is a pending update available, there should be an update button next to it.
Contact the Zelle mobile banking app team if upgrading the Zelle app does not resolve an issue. They will contact you to discuss how to fix the problem.
- Open the Settings app
- Go to General
- Click on the Software Update button
- Tap on the Install Now option
On Androids:
- Open the Settings app
- Click on System from the bottom of the page
- Select the System Update option
- Follow the onscreen instructions to finish up and download the latest firmware
When updating the Zelle Pay app, go to your respective app store and search for the application. There should be an update button next to it if there is a pending update ready.
If you’re dealing with a bug on the Zelle app and updating didn’t help, you can contact the Zelle mobile banking app team. They will get back to you about how to fix the issue.

FAQs
Some frequently asked questions are answered here.
Can money go missing in Zelle?
If your Zelle payment fails, you may believe your money has gone missing. However, there might have been an error while inputting the recipient’s information, such as their phone number or debit card information.
You might potentially be sending money on a non-business day. Zelle’s transfer will be completed the next business day.
You may wonder if sending cash to a user who does not have a Zelle account would cost you money. After the 14-day deadline for them to approve the request has elapsed, your money will be remitted to your account.
Last Thoughts
Your online banking services will determine if your payments are processed over the weekend. Because most banks are closed on weekends, you may have difficulty transferring money using Zelle on Saturday or Sunday.
It might be because you didn’t provide the correct email or phone number, or you’re attempting to send money to a bank account that isn’t registered in the United States.
Hopefully, you found all of the information beneficial and can now make quick deposits.
